MICROCHIPPING - FAQs
It is now law in the UK for your dog to be microchipped. If your pet was not chipped by 6 April 2016, there is a 21 day grace period, however, owners should be expedient with this. Vets, some charities such as Dogs Trust and certain pet professionals offer microchipping services. Do ensure that the person microchipping your dog is qualified per the Secretary of State approved course, defined by MTA (Microchip Trade Association). Register here for updates.
Once chipped, you will receive a form displaying your contact and pet details. The name of your pet identity database company will appear on the form: this your source for updating contact details and advising regarding lost and found. There are six database companies in total: PetIdentity UK, Anibase, PetProtect, PetLog, Pettrac, Smarttrac so owners will be dealing with one of these.
If you have any questions, we will be happy to help.
